Black College Convention Hosts Forum on Metaverse Opportunities and Web3 Career Paths
The Black College Convention, an annual gathering of students, alumni, and professionals from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), recently hosted an event at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) that focused on the emerging fields of the Metaverse and web3. The Black College Gaming association hosted a forum and networking event before the ESPORTS tournament, where experts from the blockchain and Metaverse community gathered to share their insights and discuss the latest trends and opportunities in these areas.

The forum brought together a diverse group of speakers, including STEAM Revolution Founder Cory Henry, @spearhead1976 , Instagram influencer @thehfactr, Future Proof DAO founder Brandon Smith @opinizedunltd, Starterkit DAO Founder @sliceix, and @nexteragamer . Each speaker shared their unique perspectives on the Metaverse and web3, offering valuable insights into the future of these emerging fields.

During the forum, the speakers discussed the opportunities available in the Metaverse, a virtual world that allows people to interact with each other in a digital environment. They also discussed web3, the next evolution of the internet that is designed to be decentralized and open to everyone.
Cory Henry, who has worked in the technology industry for over 20 years, spoke about the potential for the Metaverse to transform the way people work and play. “The Metaverse is going to be the next big thing, and it’s going to change everything,” he said. “It’s going to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs, content creators, and anyone who wants to be part of this new world.@thehfactr, an Instagram influencer with a strong STEM/STEAM following, spoke about the importance of building a personal brand in the Metaverse. “In the Metaverse, your personal brand is everything,” he said. “It’s all about creating a persona that people can relate to and building a following that will support you in everything you do.

Brandon Smith, the founder of Future Proof DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization that invests in blockchain projects, talked about the potential for web3 to create new career paths. “Web3 is going to create a whole new set of skills and jobs,” he said. “From blockchain developers to decentralized finance experts, there will be a lot of opportunities for people who are willing to learn and adapt.

SLICEIX, the founder of Starterkit DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization that helps new projects get off the ground, spoke about the importance of community in the Metaverse. “The Metaverse is all about community,” he said. “It’s about creating a space where people can come together and build something amazing.
@nexteragamer, a popular streamer and content creator, spoke about the potential for the Metaverse to create new forms of entertainment. “The Metaverse is going to change the way we consume and create content,” he said. “It’s going to be a whole new world of gaming, streaming, and social media.”
The speakers will be invited to participate in the tour of the other three campuses that the Black College Convention will be visiting. Jackson State University, Miles College, and Bowie State University are the next three stops.

The event was a great opportunity for students and professionals to learn more about the Metaverse and web3 and to network with experts in these emerging fields. As these technologies continue to evolve, it’s clear that there will be many exciting opportunities for those who are willing to learn and adapt.
